Frund

Running App

Tag line: Raise money in every step.

Summary: This app will record millage and create leaderboards while generating funds for a cause of the runner’s choice. Nonprofits will be able to create a cause, select a date, and create digital rewards for placed runners in each age group. The simple most cost effective fun run app for running enthusiasts and activists.

Background

Challenge:

The problem we focused on was how to create a fundraiser 5k during a pandemic and social distancing. We wanted to record millage and create leaderboards to spark interest and raise money for nonprofits. Nonprofits would be able to create a cause, select a date, and create digital rewards for placed runners in each age group. The simple most cost effective fun run app for running enthusiasts and activists.

The User:

1. The Activist - A person or group of people wanting to create a cost effective, fun fundraiser for their community or around the world to give to a charity/nonprofit of their choice.

2. The Cause Runner - A person who wants to join personal fitness and reach goals while changing the world. Willing to go to the distance for their community or planet.

My Role

I worked on facilitating the discovery phase of this concept and was in charge of UX/UI with Erin Daniel. This project came from one of our many app ideas and may be a future project for us. Erin created the wireframe, while I conducted research and created a design mood-board.

The Process

Our end goal was to create a wireframe and a user journey.

Results

Research:

During the user journey, I conducted competitive analysis and found apps like Strava (running app that offers GPS tracking and monthly challenges with friends), Runtastic (story running), Runkeeper (social approach to running), MapMyRun (syncs with garmin, fitbit, jawbone, underarmor), Nike Run Club (running app focused on training), RunGo (discover new places while you run), Couch to 5k (running app that trains for a 5k), GoFundMe (a campaign app that allows people to raise money for events ranging from life events to accidents and illnesses), Charity Miles (for every mile you log with the app they donate 25 cents to a participating charity.)

But none focused on the exact goal.
